Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments). It increases blood and lymphatic circulation, which helps to remove waste and toxins from muscles. The effects include muscle relaxation, relief of spasms and cramps and increased range of motion. It is very effective in the relief of pain and discomfort, whether due to a particular health disorder or to chronic stress. It can also decrease anxiety, tension and fatigue, along with the enhancement of a person’s health and general sense of well-being.

There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). The following are the various types of massage that Evolve Chiropractic and Wellbeing provides:

Remedial Massage: Mainly used for treating soft tissue injuries and muscular aches and pains. This is a firm to deep style of massage. For those who prefer to feel a little pain.

Pregnancy Massage: Therapeutic massage is applied in a gentle manner. It has a relaxing effect both physically and mentally. Also addressing in lower back issues or retain fluid, etc.

Lymphatic Drainage: A very gentle and relaxing massage, designed to support the work of the lymphatic system by draining excess fluid and balancing the nervous system.

Myofascial Release: Is an efficient, whole body, three dimensional approach to assessing and treating myofascial restrictions in the human structure. Can eliminate pain, restore motion, realign posture, increase flexibility, as well as provide relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional balancing.

Relaxation: The primary goal is to relax, not to treat any specific condition. This style of massage is generally a smooth flowing style that treats the full body, allowing the receiver to recharge and rejuvenate.

Clients are able to claim massage therapy through their private health funds for therapists with a diploma in Massage therapy and who are registered with HICAPS.
